Parish and school leaders discuss how to spread Christ’s light
BY ELIZABETH WONG BARNSTEAD, THE WESTERN KENTUCKY CATHOLIC
On Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, parish leaders and school personnel of the Diocese of Owensboro gathered at the Owensboro Convention Center in downtown Owensboro to discuss the theme of “Receive and Be the Light of Christ.”
Led by Dr. Jeff Andrini, director of the Office of Evangelization and Discipleship, participants prayed and sang together, engaged in small groups and spent time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament during a period of Adoration. Bishop William F. Medley also gave a presentation about Pope Francis’ Synod on Synodality.
Keeping in mind the challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, participants were invited to reflect on their experiences with the pandemic and, using small pieces of dissolvable paper, write one word that represented lingering pain in their hearts. They then took turns going forward and dropping the piece of paper to dissolve in urns of water at the front of the room.
