Kim Bennett joins Counseling Assistance Program offered by Catholic Charities

The Diocese of Owensboro is excited to announce that Kim Bennett has joined the CAP (Counseling Assistance Program) program through Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Owensboro.

Kim and her husband, Dan, are active members at St. Pius X Parish in Owensboro. Bennett is a Licensed Professional Art Therapist and is also trained in “Love and Logic” parenting.  She formerly worked for the Owensboro Catholic School System at the K-3 Campus, but has recently started a private counseling practice and has immediate availability.

CAP is a network of counselors in the diocese who are available to see clients at a reduced rate through collaboration between the diocese, parishes and clients. Any parishioner in the Diocese of Owensboro can see any counselor on the CAP list at a reduced rate. However, even if a parishioner does not qualify for CAP because they have insurance or health benefits through an employer that pays for mental health therapy or counseling, the CAP list is a good place to check for anyone in the diocese who is looking for counseling services.

“We are always excited to announce new CAP counselors because we see such a need in our community, especially in dealing with stress and anxiety brought on by the pandemic,” said Susan Montalvo-Gesser, director of Catholic Charities. “Kim was an excellent counselor in the Catholic schools and has a great reputation and rapport. We are thrilled to have her involved in our network of counselors and we know she will do a fantastic job for her clients.”

Danny May, director of the diocese’s Office of Marriage & Family Life, looks forward to Bennett’s partnership as well.

“We are so fortunate in this diocese to have the CAP program,” he said. “It is very exciting to have someone like Kim Bennett in our network of counselors who is excellent with children but can also see adults and parents as well.”
