New signage on campus of St. Stephen Cathedral increases welcome for visitors

BY ST. STEPHEN CATHEDRAL PARISH STAFF, SPECIAL TO THE WESTERN KENTUCKY CATHOLIC

The next time that you are in Owensboro visiting St. Stephen Cathedral or the diocesan offices next door, you may notice the new signage that has been put in place! Both of these locations are often a destination for visitors from across western Kentucky and beyond. You may find that when you enter the address into the GPS, sometimes it is difficult to find exactly where to go.

Many diocesan liturgies are held at the cathedral, such as ordinations of priests and deacons, liturgies for the Sophia Awards and marriage celebrations, and other special events. In addition to many parish activities, the cathedral is the location for weddings, funerals, and the Arts at the Cathedral Concert Series, which are often attended by non-parishioners. The parish office building is the home to a very active St. Vincent de Paul Society along with a food pantry, which serves those in need in the area. Next door, the McRaith Catholic Center is home to the diocesan offices and Cathedral Preschool with 100 3, 4, and 5-year-old children. All of this is in the 600 block of Locust Street, with many locations and doors to choose from.

In an effort to provide a more welcoming and hospitable environment, campus signage has been installed around the campus. It is intended to help visitors find available parking and give directions to the various offices and locations. The next time you join us at St. Stephen Cathedral or the McRaith Catholic Center, we hope you will feel more welcome and are able to navigate your way around!

St. Stephen Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Owensboro, Ky. Learn more at ststephencathedral.org.
