Communications: Sharing the Good News

BY COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE STAFF

The Office of Communications in the Diocese of Owensboro exists to serve.

Our tasks are varied, and no day is like another. Our ministry includes informing the faithful of the diocese about recent and upcoming events, sharing stories of what is happening among the people of the diocese and the broader Church, assisting parishes and organizations in promoting event/programs, assisting parishes and other organizations in best practices of communication, and creating visual content for our social media outlets like Facebook and Instagram.

We produce faith-filled video content through our in-house studio, which was completed and blessed by Bishop Medley in April 2023.

Other responsibilities include communicating public messages from the Office of the Bishop; highlighting the Catholic schools of the diocese; photographing and covering major liturgical events within the diocese; and maintaining our multiple diocesan websites, which include OwensboroDiocese.org, WesternKyCatholic.com, OwensboroVocations.com, and CleanHeartInitiative.org, a website spearheaded by the Office of Marriage and Family Life addressing the issue of pornography within the context of the Catholic faith.

Each month, apart from a summertime printing break, we produce The Western Kentucky Catholic newspaper, a 32-page publication filled with stories, photos, regular columns, and submitted articles from around our diocese. The newspaper prints a section in Spanish and publishes content in Spanish online, continuing a practice begun many years ago.

If you’d like to connect with the communications office and learn how we can help you, email [email protected].

The staff of the Office of Communications are Rachel Hall, director; Riley Greif, digital media specialist; and Elizabeth Wong Barnstead, editor of The Western Kentucky Catholic.
