Three years after the Catholic community in western Kentucky lost a beloved teen, his faith-filled impact is felt to this day by campers at Gasper River Catholic Youth Camp and Retreat Center.
This summer the Diocese of Owensboro’s Office of Youth Ministry recognized the recipients of the 2023 Servant Leaders in Ministry (SLIM) awards. Based on nominations from the parishes, the youth ministry office selects up to 18 youth from around the diocese who have made outstanding contributions to their parishes, communities and the diocese.
Across the diocese, kids spent the summer exploring, traveling the world, going on adventures with their pets, and some even went to outer space… all from the comfort of their parishes.
On March 12, 28 youth and their families and various others gathered at Sts. Joseph and Paul in Owensboro in front of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, to offer a Holy Hour of Adoration in intercession for our young people.
On the night that Jesus instituted the Eucharist, surrounded by his disciples, he also modeled for them what a life of discipleship would look like.
